Use the GitHub node to automate work in GitHub, and integrate GitHub with other applications. n8n has built-in support for a wide range of GitHub features, including creating, updating, deleting, and editing files, repositories, issues, releases, and users.

Basic Operations#

  • File
    • Create a new file in repository.
    • Delete a file in repository.
    • Edit a file in repository.
    • Get the data of a single file.
    • List contents of a folder.
  • Issue
    • Create a new issue.
    • Create a new comment on an issue.
    • Edit an issue.
    • Get the data of a single issue.
    • Lock an issue.
  • Repository
    • Get the data of a single repository.
    • Returns the contents of the repository's license file, if one is detected.
    • Returns issues of a repository.
    • Get the community profile of a repository with metrics, health score, description, license, etc.
    • Get the top 10 popular content paths over the last 14 days.
    • Get the top 10 referring domains over the last 14 days.
  • Release
    • Creates a new release.

  • Review
    • Creates a new review.
    • Get a review for a pull request.

    • Returns the repositories of a user.

What to do if your operation isn't supported#

If this node doesn't support the operation you want to do, you can use the HTTP Request node to call the service's API.

You can use the credential you created for this service in the HTTP Request node:

  1. In the HTTP Request node, select Authentication > Predefined Credential Type.
  2. Select the service you want to connect to.
  3. Select your credential.
